Canfield Elementary is a neighborhood community school that celebrates diversity and reflects the racial, ethnic and socioeconomic make-up of Los Angeles. With approximately 400 students, our school is small enough to make sure that each child's needs are met, yet we are large enough to provide the extra enrichment and diversity that parents want for their children. Friends of Canfield is a non-profit organization that supports, enhances and enriches the educational environment of Canfield Avenue Elementary School. Our intention is to create an inclusive and dynamic environment where we celebrate the whole child, empowering them to discover themselves and find their own voice. We strive to expand social consciousness through an appreciation of other’s feelings, cultures, beliefs, morals and values. Friends of Canfield aims to model honest, open communication with one another, the principal, the teachers and the students. The mission of Friends of Canfield is to:
1) raise money to supplement staffing and resources not provided by the district as well as to fund extracurricular programs and activities;
2) positively recruit and respectfully treat our volunteers; and
